Job Description :
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a large Goverment Client based in Central London, I am looking for an individual to run the day to day operations of a PMO, the job title being Operational PMO Manager. The ideal candidate should cover all of the essential qualities and as many of the desirable qualities as possible.
Essential qualities are: Having a programme management background, where the programmes you have been engaged in should have been of a complex nature and of values above 25m, with up to 60 projects active at any one time.
Experience in implementing processes designed by others, running existing processes on a repetitive basis, enforcing existing processes to ensure governance is not compromised.
Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills to enable them to influence programme teams and peers to adopt the processes in place.
A pragmatic, action orientated and delivery focused approach. Operational PMO provides services to the programme and BAU which will require this individual to be customer focused in order to deliver the agreed service.
An ability to manage stakeholders across the whole programme. Therefore they need to be an effective and confident communicator.
An ability to continue with current vision, sustain the motivation of the team, mentor and coach individuals, address problems quickly and effectively, develop individuals and the team as a whole to meet the organisation needs. The current team is made up of 6 PSOs and an administrator. It has recently gone through a large amount of change and needs to be nurtured. The team also needs to be performance managed and meet any personnel requirements as set out by HR (Annual Reviews, Holidays, Sick, etc)
An ability to chair senior meetings (up to 20 people which includes client representation), where they are able to influence without authority, able to read the situation, retain control and follow up on actions.
Desirable qualities are: Structured approach to work Attention to detail Ability to fulfil some training needs Experience in compiling trends in analyse effectiveness of implemented processes/methods Being innovative in order to support the process design team (PDO) Good interviewing skills to ensure we continue to recruit suitable candidates to vacancies.
